What Are Under-Eye Peels?
Under-eye peels are the chemical peels used for exfoliating the skin around the eyes. Under-eye chemical peel treatment is a minimally invasive, cosmetic, anti-aging service for under-eye skin.
Types of Chemical Peels for Under-Eye Treatment
There are three types of chemical peel available for under-eye skin concerns, varying in their strength or depth:
- Superficial/mild peel- This type of peel is used to treat superficial lines and wrinkles, large pores, and darkening of the under-eye skin. It works to only remove the skin’s topmost layer- the epidermis. Examples include glycolic acid, lactic acid, and mandelic acid.
- Medium peel- This type of peel is used to treat creepy skin, photodamaged skin, or acne scars in the under-eye area. It works up to the level of the upper skin dermis. Examples include salicylic acid and trichloroacetic acid.
- Deep peel- This type of peel is used to treat severe under-eye skin concerns like excessive photodamage, wrinkles, bags/puffiness, acne scars, and hyperpigmentation. Examples include trichloroacetic acid and phe-nol.
